Test card
"It is very easy to consider man unique among living organisms. Great civilisations have developed and changed our world's environments in ways inconceivable from any other form of life.
There has thus always been a tendency to think that something special differentiates man from everything else. These beliefs often find expression in man's religions, that try to give an origin to our existence. It is no coincidence that so many religious beliefs date back to times when no science could possibly have accounted satisfactorily for many of the natural phenomena inspiring scripture and myths.
But life is in no sense a metaphysical entity. Rather it is a precisely patterned structure, right down to the atomic level." - James D Watson

Drum & Bass Mix 8: Rinse Out
These mixes are a bit like the Saw films - they just keep coming... and get more gruesome as they go! This, the eighth in the series, is a real rinse out. Expect tearing beats and driving bass for the best part of an hour and ten. Feel free to listen and download.

An original score
Drum and Bass artists don't have a great track record of cross-over success, despite the fact that the genre has inspired many a money-spinning variation.
Some would argue this is intentional, but after Shy and Roni's brief flirtation with the charts at the turn of the century (and Goldie gone mainstream) it appears there are two young pretenders ready to break out into the wider world of music - Chase and Status.
(Shameless name-dropping alert:) I met them while at 1Xtra and they seemed like genuinely nice guys; hardworking and with a real knack of turning out bangers.
Now working with Jay-Z and Rihanna (among others) it will be interesting to see what they do and indeed if they keep making D&B.
There are plenty of Chase & Status' productions in the mixes on this site and on teedcrompton.co.uk. One I particularly recommend if you haven't heard much of their DnB stuff is In Love with Jenna G.
